Interrogatives:
 
なんにん Nannin – How many man?                         なんがつ Nangatsu – In what month? 

なんかげつう Nankagetsu- How many months?    なんにち Nannichi – How many days? 

いつ  Itsu – When?                                                        いくつ Ikutsu – How many?  

 いくらですか  Ikura desuka – How much does this cost?  えん   En – Japanese yens

たくさん Takusan – Many (for objects)    
おおぜい  Oozei – Many (for beings)
 すこし   Sukoshi – Few
 



Ex:
 
あそこに なんにん いますか   Asoko ni nannin imasuka / How many men are there?   あそこに ひとが おおぜいいます Asokoni hitoga oozei imasu / There are many men.      りんご いくつ ありますか  Ringo kutsu arimasuka – How many apples are there? 

Particles:
·       Ga  - particle that indicates the subject, it is generally used with the verbs of being “arimasu” and “imasu”

 Ex:   へやに つくえ が あります 
            Heya ni tsukue ga arimasu / The desk/table is in the room.
             ここに ねっこ が います 
     Koko ni nekko ga imasu / There is a cat here.
